One of my favourite Fall beauty looks this season was seen on the Bottega Veneta runway. The 1940s-influenced look combined with Jodie Foster in ‘70s-era Taxi Driver was equal parts sexy and strong with a soft sophistication.
The models’ hair demanded attention in big, soft brushed-out curls without volume at the roots. The makeup featured a smouldering, smoky eye in browns and soft black with a matte power pout in a merlot shade.

To create the look myself, I tried ARTDECO cosmetics for the first time with eyeshadow shades from the Eyeshadow Pearl range. I used a deep purple brown (no. 92) and sandy brown in the crease of my eyelid (no. 16) and highlighted my brow bone with a light biscotti colour (no. 11). The eyeshadow stayed put all night long without creasing and gave off a pretty pearlescent shimmer.
Each shade of eyeshadow is purchased individually so that you can customize your own refillable Beauty Box. How many times have you purchased an eyeshadow palette to have one lonely shade that you just don’t use? With ARTDECO you create your own palette and swap colours out whenever you want, which is super easy thanks to magnetic strips.

To create the Bottega Veneta power pout, I used YSL Rouge Pur Couture No. 54 Prune Avenue. This new deep plum shade has been added to the Rouge Pur Couture collection for Fall and though it’s much darker than what was on the Bottega Veneta runway it did a great job of giving me a dark statement lip.

To finish off the look, I used Clinique High Impact Mascara in Black and brushed on the Talbot Runhof for ARTDECO Blush Couture, which is from the latest collection to hit stores.

It doesn’t take much to get me excited about the launch of a new cosmetics brand and to say I’m thrilled about this latest entry would be an understatement. ARTDECO, which is the best-selling consumer colour cosmetics brand in Germany and has a large presence in Europe, is now available in North America with a special focus on English Canada.
I first became aware of the brand courtesy of my style icon Dita Von Teese, who released three drool-worthy cosmetic collections with the brand in 2012. During this time, I obsessively trolled the Internet crossing my fingers in hope that the products would somehow become available in Canada. I had no such luck. But now, I have access to the brand that Ms. Von Teese herself endorsed now that ARTDECO is available in select Shopper’s Drug Mart stores in Ontario and Alberta. Now if only Dita Von Teese would partner with the brand again… Makeup gods, are you listening?
Next week, I’ll be trying out ARTDECO products to recreate one of my favourite Fall runway beauty looks. To find out more about the brand and stay up-to-date on the latest, you can follow ARTDECO Canada on Twitter at @ARTDECO_Canada and like them on Facebook at Facebook.com/ARTDECO.Canada
