Tarantino’s Inglorious Beauties: Chapter Two

As promised from last week’s story on the brave beauties in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds, I’ve found some key pieces (even heels that resemble those that play a vital Cinderella moment in the film) to give you the old Hollywood style of Bridget von Hammersmark. The fearless German film actress (played by the stylish and sophisticated Diane Kruger) is armed with loads of tenacity, confidence and a whole lot of glamour.

Tarantino’s Inglorious Beauties

As a fan of director Quentin Tarantino I saw Inglorious Basterds the weekend it opened. I was blown away by the characteristically cool Tarantino-isms that worked in perfect unison with the serious nature of the film and also by the strong female characters. Shosanna Dreyfus (played by Melanie Laurent), a Jewish woman who escapes capture from the Nazis to open her own cinema, and Bridget von Hammersmark (played by Diane Kruger), a German film actress and double agent, are both characters who find their own way to thrive under Nazi regime, kick some serious ass and look amazing while doing it!

Here is a look inspired by Shosanna. Next week look for pieces that will give you the old Hollywood glamour of Bridget.

A Kiss On The Cheeks

I’ve never been one to wear blush, or rouge as our grandmothers called it. And the idea of wearing blush has always seemed antiquated to me as well. Maybe it’s because my fair skin has always made any colour on my cheeks look more like I was wearing face paint rather than glowing from within.

That is until I found MAC’s “Blush Of Youth” Beauty Powder from its Rose Romance makeup collection. Just a sweep of this over my cheeks, shoulders and decollete give me that freshly plucked glow. And just this week, the luminous look was on the red carpet at Cannes.

If your skin has more of a medium or olive tone, then look to Angelina Jolie and Asia Argento for inspiration. The two actresses demonstrated how a peachy pink blush, like The Balm‘s “Hot Mama” all-in-one blush, highlighter and eyeshadow, looks sizzling on darker skin by giving it a sun-kissed look.
