As a fan of director Quentin Tarantino I saw Inglorious Basterds the weekend it opened. I was blown away by the characteristically cool Tarantino-isms that worked in perfect unison with the serious nature of the film and also by the strong female characters. Shosanna Dreyfus (played by Melanie Laurent), a Jewish woman who escapes capture from the Nazis to open her own cinema, and Bridget von Hammersmark (played by Diane Kruger), a German film actress and double agent, are both characters who find their own way to thrive under Nazi regime, kick some serious ass and look amazing while doing it!
Here is a look inspired by Shosanna. Next week look for pieces that will give you the old Hollywood glamour of Bridget.

A recent trip to the ROM got me in a museum kind of mood and I’m finding myself thirsting for more culture. Currently on at the AGO until August 30 is the Surreal Things Exhibition and I’m thinking of making an artsy night of it. The exhibit features surrealist paintings, sculptures, jewellery, fashion, the list goes on… I can’t wait to see Salvador Dali’s Ruby Lips Brooch.
So, what to wear? I found the perfect French Connection halter dress that with its embroidered white swirls is a piece of art all on its own. And for spending a few hours in the museum I found this great pair of patent cherry red flats from Aldo.
French Connection "Twist & Swirl" Dress, $120
Aldo "Fritima Flats", $45
The AGO is open until 5:30 on Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. It’s closed on Mondays and open until 8:30 on Wednesdays, when from 6:00 – 8:30 admission is free. You’ll have to pay a special admission charge if you want to see the Surreal Things Exhibition on Wednesday nights.
