I have a confession to make. For the last few months I’ve developed an obsession over full, midi skirts. I’ve always had a soft spot for the full-skirted ‘40s silhouette and thanks to the style having swept down Fall 2013 runways, popular retailers, including H&M and Topshop, are now offering the style in stores. This is a blessing for me as I’ve always had a tough time tracking down full skirts, except for on ModCloth which has offered the style for eons.

In my previous “Pulp Fiction Vixens” post, I focused on the femme fatales on the Christian Dior Spring runway and how to achieve their pastel lids and bright red lips. Now I’ve turned my attention to the cropped trenchcoats, lace slip skirts, bodycon lace dresses and bustiers that these dangerous dames strutted in. The outfits inspired images of film noir femmes and pulp fiction damsels who, after brawling with bad boys, throw on their trenchcoats — over their lingerie of course — and flee the scene with smoking gun in hand. Look below for the runway looks and pieces to help dress the part of Dior’s vixens. With Topshop now shipping to Canada and the Canadian dollar close to parity with the U.S. dollar it’s never been a better time to shop!

With holiday parties coming up I’ve been finding inspiration in Christian Dior’s Fall 2009 Couture collection. Yes, the models were dressed in various stages of un-dress, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t look to the garters, lace-trimmed slips, girdles and stockings for inspiration of what to wear under your holiday dress.

The contrast of blushing pink and black frilly under-things with the bright lime, orange, raspberry, yellow and animal prints of the fitted jackets, pencil skirts and cocktail dresses made for a striking image. The lady-like accessories of pearls, hats with veils and long gloves were also to die for.
Below are some of my picks to get the look. Next week, I’ll post my beauty finds to create the ’50s chic makeup looks from the collection.

Last month when everyone was losing it for the super-sexy H&M collaboration with Jimmy Choo, I was counting down the days for the next designer pairing with the mega retailer to hit the racks. The Sonia Rykiel Pour H&M collection is a retro sexy line of lingerie and accessories in satin, lace and velvet that sashays into select stores this Saturday, December 5. This is the first time that the designer collaborations have extended to the lingerie department and what a great way to start!
The Parisian chic collection from the famed French house includes panties, bustiers, bras, garters, robes and even rosette-topped kitten heels in shades of pink blush, black, deep purple and hot pink that are all tres feminine. If you’re in the Toronto area, the following stores will carry the collection: Eaton Centre, Bloor Street and Yorkdale. Once I’ve gotten my hands on this lingerie, it’ll be time to start counting down for the Spring 2010 Sonia Rykiel knitwear collaboration, which will be in select H&M stores on February 20.
Here are just some of my favourite items from the Sonia Rykiel Pour H&M lingerie collection:

I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a piece of Dita Von Teese-designed fashion for some time now. The burlesque beauty’s Wonderbra line is sold exclusively in France and England and I’m not willing to max out my credit card on shipping fees for the stockings she’s designed for Secrets In Lace. So you can imagine my sheer delight when I found out that she’s designed a T-shirt for Fashion Against AIDS, a collaboration between H&M and Designer’s Against AIDS (DAA) to help fight the disease and raise awareness among youth.

The T-shirt, which features the iconic image of Dita’s red lips and arched brow, goes on sale May 28. Other artists who are collaborating with H&M on the collection include Katy Perry, NERD, Cyndi Lauper and Robyn. Twenty-five per cent of the sales price will be donated to youth HIV/AIDS awareness projects.
